Peru Trip

Today December 29th we experienced the Korkanchea Temple. this is where the Incas could be located from time to time. I learned that they are known for their stone windows because they value the sun. Also, I learned today that the Guinea Pig is very known in their culture. They are eaten on special occasions. Later on that night for dinner I had a special dessert that had delicious pineapples and strawberry yogurt.

December 30: Today we visited the Sacred Valley. Followed by Having a Peruvian Weaving demonstration. we learned that each poncho is made of real llamba and no poncho is going to have the same design. we also learned how the dye their thread in order to make such beautiful colors. After that, we walked up 300 steps on Ollantaytambo which was an eventful experience. Many laughs. That day we also visited the salt ponds which have been there for along time.

December 31st: we travel by train up the mountain to Machu Picchu. Then we took a guided tour 3000 steps up the mountain of Machu Picchu. we saw a lot of places where the Incas lived and worked. There were a lot of stone windows that represent a way they had the sunshine on them. we saw some alpaca as well roaming around. it was a very long tour but a great experience especially at the top of the Andes.

January 1st: Today we visited the Pablo Seminario. we learned about ceramics and how most symbols of ceramics represent the Inca culture. We also experienced a bird that actually said "Hola" to you. that was really fun. We also went to the market and the fortress where we learned more about their culture.

January 2nd: we explored a little bit of Cuzco on our own. And we also went to the children's community center where we played soccer with the young children. we learned why they have this type of program for the kids. It made me really appreciate the programs we have here in America because it is kind of simliar. we also went to this market where i saw these huge pecans. i was amazed.

January 4th: Today we took a tour around Lima. We saw the Government palace where the president lives. we Discovered the city hall where the government center is. We also went into the cathedral where we went down to the catacombs. the catacombs were a very frightening experience for me but I understand it is a tradition where that has dead people under the church. At the end of the day, we went to the beach.
